The field day got underway at 10:00 a.m. with a tour of the host farm and many of its research plots and experiments involving perennial forages, corn, soybeans, small grains, hemp, dry beans, and more.
The independent growers showcased NutriHarvest® Organic Fertilizer field trials of tomatoes along with others.

Attendees received an update on ongoing and innovative crop and soil research trials, and the university researchers shared highlights from their research at the farm.
The highlight of the afternoon session was Soil Health — Organizers shared the tales a soil pit can tell. Participants learned about inherent and dynamic soil properties, the soil critters that help nutrient cycling, the dung beetles in action and their effect on soil health, management trade-offs and biodiversity’s impact and balance on the landscape.
