Why this tool is conservative
- Different laboratories may use different phosphorus extraction methods and interpretation ranges.
- Soil-test recommendations are crop- and region-specific. The lab or local Extension recommendation should take priority.
- pH alone is not enough to calculate a lime or sulfur rate, so this tool does not prescribe either.
- “High” phosphorus is a reason to be cautious about adding more phosphorus unless the report specifically recommends it.
